HC Deb 02 February 1984 vol 53 c326W
Mrs. Dunwoody

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what controls exist on the marketing and sale of salt substitutes with less than 5 per cent. sodium, or sodium-free salt substitutes.

Mrs. Fenner

There are no specific statutory controls on the composition, marketing or sale of salt substitutes. These products are subject to the general provisions of the Food and Drugs Act. Substances used in their production must be in accordance with regulations governing food additives.
