§ Dr. Cunninghamasked the Secretary of State for the Enviromnent if he will publish in respect of the Metropolitan police and on the same method of calculation as that applied to local authorities (i) its grant-related expenditure, (ii) its expenditure guidance and (iii) its expenditure for each of the years 1981–82 to 1984–85.
§ Mr. Patrick JenkinThe Metropolitan police's grant-related expenditure is not calculated by applying the method used for local authorities, and to do so would be meaningless and misleading. I do not issue expenditure guidance to the receiver for the Metropolitan police district. The latest expenditure figures for the Metropolitan police are as follows:
