§ Mr. Gryllsasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether his terms of reference to Robson Rhodes, in connection with its report on the loan guarantee scheme, include a review of and recommendations on the default procedures operated by the participating banks.
§ Mr. TrippierRobson Rhodes was asked to conduct a detailed analysis of a sample of 150 scheme borrowers, 50 of which resulted in a claim under the guarantee arrangements. As part of its analysis, Robson Rhodes will have examined the circumstances that led to the loans being called. It will also take into account the action taken by the banks in respect of the Government's guarantee and in pursuing any available security. Clearly this aspect of the scheme also features elsewhere in my review, and I intend to take it fully into account in considering the future of the scheme.
