asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will estimate the number of jobs created in Northern Ireland, and in which industries, as a result of the activities of the Industrial Development Board.

Mr. Butler

[pursuant to his reply, 23 January 1984, c. 517]: From 1 September 1982, the date on which the IDB' s industrial development functions commenced, to 31 December 1983, 4,799 new jobs have been promoted by the Industrial Development Board in Northern Ireland.

[pursuant to his reply, 23 January 1984, c. 517]: Unemployment figures for the Mid-Ulster constituency area are not available. However most of the constituency falls within the Cookstown, Omagh and Strabane travel-to-work areas and the details for these areas are given below.
