HC Deb 02 February 1984 vol 53 c324W
36. Sir Walter Clegg

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what progress has been made towards appointing the European Community's fisheries inspectors as agreed in the Council of Ministers on 25 January 1983.

Mr. MacGregor

Nine Community inspectors are now in post; the EC Commission has said that the full complement of 13 should be in post by the beginning of April. I am advised that there have been difficulties in recruiting suitably qualified personnel.

At the Council of Fisheries Ministers on 31 January we again stressed that every effort should be made to bring the Community Inspectorate up to strength as soon as possible.
