§ Mr. HurdNo specific guidance has been given to the police on assistance to motorists whose vehicles have broken down, as such assistance is an operational matter for chief officers of police. Home Office circular No. 74/1983 does, however, advise police on appropriate removal arrangements for broken down or damaged private vehicles.
