asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied with the progress of civil defence planning in the county of Tyne and Wear.

Civil defence planning in the county of Tyne and Wear does not yet meet the requirements of the Civil Defence (General Local Authority Functions) Regulations 1983 which came into force on 1 December 1983. Progress will be kept under review.
