HC Deb 01 February 1984 vol 53 c220W
Mr. Alton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what were the reasons for the delay in commencing the development of the Anglican cathedral precinct in Liverpool.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

The reasons for delay in starting development of the Anglican cathedral precinct were difficulties over acquisition of part of the site; changes in the extent of the site which meant that substantial additional design work was necessary and the time taken to grant detailed planning permission to the developer. Work began on site within 28 working days of the granting of planning permission.
