Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many married quarters on the Wood Farm estate, Malvern, have been declared surplus to his Department's requirements; and what means are used to make their availability known to service men under his discounted sales scheme.

Mr. Lee

No married quarters on the Wood Farm estate, Malvern, have been declared surplus to Ministry of Defence requirements. All suitable surplus married quarters for sale to service men under the discounted sales scheme are advertised in bulletins issued by the joint services married quarters sales office.

Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the number of units of accommodation owned by his Department in the Wood Farm estate, Malvern, for married officers, single officers and married and single soldiers of other ranks and the number at present occupied; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Lee

The Ministry of Defence accommodation at the Wood Farm estate, Malvern, for both married and single service men, consists of eight married officers' quarters and 23 married soldiers' quarters.

At present six of these quarters are occupied by married service men and their families, and one is allocated for occupation in the near future. A further two soldiers' quarters are being used as single accommodation for senior NCOs.

The future accommodation requirements at this site are currently under review.
