asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he expects to announce the individual amounts for purchase grants to be allocated to the national museums and galleries in Scotland for the year 1985–86.

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland announced on 20 December the overall provision for the Scottish national institutions in 1985–86, subject as usual to Parliamentary approval. The individual purchase grant allocations for 1985–86 are as follows:

National Library of Scotland	665,000
Local Museum Purchase Fund	183,000
Local Museum Purchase Fund (Science)	27,000
