§ Mrs. FennerThe cost of building a wall using traditional materials would vary greatly depending on a number of factors, which include the availability of materials, whether farm or contract labour is used and the nature of the site on which the work is to be carried out. For this reason it is not practical to provide the information sought. But the level of grant payable on eligible work of this kind would be 60 per cent. of the eligible cost in the less favoured areas and 30 per cent. in the lowlands.
§ Mr. Home Robertsonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many grant claims have been received by his Department in respect of the provision of field walls of traditional materials, and hedges, respectively; and what length walls and hedges have been provided under grant-aided schemes in each of the last five years.
§ Mrs. FennerI regret the information requested is not available.
