asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he has it in mind to review the future role of his Department's police.

Yes. My right hon. Friend has decided to set up a high level independent committee to review the role, composition and size of the Ministry of Defence police in the context of current policy and administration of the physical security of Ministry of Defence establishments in the United Kingdom. The chairman will be Sir Ewen Broadbent, formerly second permanent under-secretary of State, Ministry of Defence, and the members Major-General D. C. Alexander, commandant of the Scottish police college, and Sir Peter Matthews, formerly Chief Constable of Surrey.
