HC Deb 21 December 1984 vol 70 cc390-1W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the levels of radiation among workers at Chapelcross nuclear power station; and what steps he is taking to reduce them.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The radiation dose levels at Chapelcross reflect the fact that this is one of the earliest nuclear power stations built in this country. The Nuclear Installations Inspectorate is satisfied that the doses received by workers on the site are well within annual limits and are acceptable. The licensee is required by a condition of the nuclear site licence to take all reasonable steps to minimise exposure to persons on the site.
