HC Deb 20 December 1984 vol 70 cc326-7W
Mr. Merchant

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the estimated value of the Royal Mint as a trading concern.

Mr. Ian Stewart

[pursuant to his reply, 19 December 1984, c. 189]: At the 31 March 1984 the audited historic cost accounts show a net asset value of £32.059 million; the audited current cost accounts show a net asset value of £40.087 million. Precise valuation of the Royal Mint as a trading concern would require complex and costly analysis.

I would also refer my hon. Friend to the detailed figures contained in the 1984 annual report of the Royal Mint and the Royal Mint trading fund accounts published as a White Paper (HC 48) on 17 July 1984.
