§ Mr. William Rossasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food which European Economic Community member states have produced over their milk quota to date or for such periods for which figures are available.
§ Mr. MacGregor[pursuant to his reply, 17 December 1984, c. 37]: Data on the part year quotas of other member states are not available. The following table shows, for each EC member state, the percentage cutback on 1983–84 deliveries required to keep within the 1984–85 annual quota and the percentage cutback to date compared with production in the corresponding period of 1983–84. The arrangements for allocating additional quota, including the granting of different base years to producers who have made special case applications may affect the proportion of the annual quota available in a particular part of the year so that the percentage cut required to be within quota during part of the year could be above or below the percentage cut required for the year as a whole. Most recent estimates indicate an increasing trend towards lower levels of production. The Agriculture Commissioner has said that over the last two months production levels were 5 to 7 per cent. below last year whereas over the period April to September 1984 they were 3 per cent. below last year.
