asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) on how many occasions in 1982–83 and 1983–84 the Forestry Commission issued felling licences, which permitted felling of broadleaved woods, without there being conditions attached for the replanting solely of braodleaved trees; and how many hectares of woodland this totalled in each year;

(2) on how many occasions in 1982–83 and 1983–84 the Forestry Commission issued felling licences which permitted the clear-felling of broadleaved woodlands for conversion to agricultural land; and how many hectares of woodland this totalled in each case.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland why, when a local authority objects or recommends amendments to a felling licence application, the Forestry Commission does not always inform the local authority of its decision relating to that application.
