HC Deb 18 December 1984 vol 70 c113W
66. Mr. Sean Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what further plans he has to provide training for the unemployed.

Mr. Peter Morrison

The youth training scheme is now firmly established and sufficient places are available this year for all youngsters likely to come forward.

This year about 85,000 unemployed adults are expected to enter the Manpower Services Commission's training opportunities scheme. As part of our adult training strategy, major changes are underway to make the Manpower Services Commission's adult training programmes more effective, and we plan to substantially increase to 125,000 the number of unemployed adults trained each year. In addition around 125,000 employed adults will be helped to train each year.
