§ Mr. Frank Fieldasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish the study he conducted on the free distribution of shares in nationalised industries.
§ Mr. Moore[pursuant to his reply, 17 December 1984, c. 65]: The possibility was examined in depth in 1979 and 1980 and ruled out for reasons which still apply. Any such scheme would be extremely complex and the costs would significantly reduce the benefit that could be distributed. The work that led to these conclusions is not suitable for publication.
