HL Deb 18 December 1984 vol 458 c634WA
Baroness Stedman

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Why no action was taken under Section 5(3)(f) of the Marine Offences Act 1967 against the recent "Laser Lover—Communicator Road Show" which appeared at St. Ivo Centre, St. Ives, Cambridgeshire, and of which the radio regulatory division of the Department of Trade and Industry was advised, as Radio Laser is an illegal operation under the International Telecommunications Union to which the United Kingdom is a signatory.

The Minister of State, Home Office (Lord Elton)

I understand from the Chief Constable of Cambridgeshire Constabulary that he has sent a report to the Director of Public Prosecutions about the possibility of bringing a prosecution under the Marine Etc. Broadcasting (Offences) Act 1967. I shall write to the noble Baroness when his decision is known.
