asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he is satisfied that local education authorities possess adequate resources for providing improved learning facilities for dyslexic children.

Mr. Dunn

Yes. Provided that cost increases can be contained, the Government's plans will allow the great majority of authorities in aggregate to make some improvement in pupil teacher ratios in special education and to maintain their non-teaching costs per pupil at 1982–83 levels. It is, however, for LEAs to determine the allocation of their resources.
