If they will list all the international scientific organisations and programmes which are part of, dependent on conducted under the auspices of, or affiliated to UNESCO; and in which of them Britain participates.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Young)

The four international scientific programmes conducted under the auspices of UNESCO are as follows:

  • Intergovernmental Programme on Man and the Biosphere.
  • International Oceanographic Commission.
  • International Hydrological Programme.
  • International Geological Co-operation Programme.

The United Kingdom participates in all these programmes.

The following international non-governmental organisations receive subventions from UNESCO's scientific funds:

  • International Council of Scientific Unions.
  • International Federation of Documentation.
  • International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions.
  • International Council on Archives.
  • International Union of Architects.
  • International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources.

There is a United Kingdom involvement in all these organisations.

I am placing in the Library a list of the 502 international non-governmental organisations which have been admitted to a consultative or information relationship with UNESCO.
