HC Deb 17 December 1984 vol 70 cc52-3W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services which maternity liaison committees have set up confidential perinatal inquiry committees to collect information and collate reports.

Mr. John Patten

The most recent information on the extent of perinatal confidential inquiries is that given in 1983 to the Social Services Committee and published as part of appendix 1 of the Committee's third report, session 1983–84. We shall be calling for reports in due course on the action taken by health authorities in implementing the Reports of the maternity services advisory committee, which recommended both the establishment of maternity service liaison committees, and that such committees should encourage perinatal confidential inquiries to be set up.
