HC Deb 17 December 1984 vol 70 c26W
12. Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will make a statement on the negotiations between the United Kingdom Government and Euratom concerning a mutually satisfactory inspection regime for British nuclear plants and facilities.

Mr. Goodlad

All civil nuclear facilities in the United Kingdom with the exception of the mixed civil-military processing plants at Springfields and Sellafield are regularly inspected by the Eurotom Safeguards organisation. The United Kingdom Government have made proposals to Eurotam for inspection regimes for these plants which take account of the fact that they handle both civil and military material. These proposals are at present under consideration by Euratom.
