HC Deb 17 December 1984 vol 70 c19W
Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Prime Minister whether Her Majesty's Government have given any assistance to the Government of Malta for the disposal of unexploded second world war bombs and mines in the waters around the island.

The Prime Minister

In September we provided the services of a Royal Navy hydrographer to advise the Maltese Government on this question. We subsequently indicated to the Maltese Government our readiness to conduct a full hydrographic survey and an underwater search for unexploded ordnance, subject to agreement on terms of reference; and to consider, in the light of any such survey and search what further assistance it might prove possible to offer. Exchanges between the Governments are continuing.
