HC Deb 17 December 1984 vol 70 c14W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he intends to expand the capacity of his Department to undertake research and collect information on London's housing to compensate for the loss of the Greater London council's duty to assess London's housing needs, in the event of the Greater London council being abolished.

Sir George Young

No. It will be for the councils of the London boroughs to continue such research as they consider necessary, acting individually or under the collective arrangements provided for by clause 83 of the Local Government Bill.
