HC Deb 17 December 1984 vol 70 c28W
33. Dr. Michael Clark

asked the Secretary of State for Energy how many applications his Department has received for grants under the energy efficiency scheme since its inception on 1 January; and what proportion of those applications has been successful.

Mr. David Hunt

Up until 6 December 1984, the Energy Efficiency Office had received the following applications for energy efficiency survey grants:

  • Extended surveys: 535
  • Short surveys: 1809
  • Combined heat & power
  • feasibility studies: 14

Virtually all applications were successful: only one application for an extended and four applications for short surveys were rejected. Eleven further applicants for extended survey grants were advised to apply for short survey grants instead.

We expect surveys carried out with the aid of these grants—totalling £1.4 million—to identify savings worth over £60 million a year.
