§ Mr. Wardasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what steps are being taken to co-ordinate with other European countries the future regulations to cover the second generation of cellular radio.
§ Mr. ButcherWork on a harmonised European specification for the second generation of cellular radio is currently being carried out by a special group established by the Conference of European Posts and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT). The group has been charged with producing an outline specification by the end of 1986 for implementation by the early 1990's. The Department is actively participating in this work.
