HC Deb 14 December 1984 vol 69 c641W
Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he proposes to complete his review of the Public Order Act 1936.

Mr. Giles Shaw

My right hon. and learned Friend hopes to complete his review of the Public Order Act 1936 and related legislation by the end of this year.

Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department which aspects of activities during the course of the present miners' dispute are now the subject of investigation associated with his review of the Public Order Act 1936.

Mr. Giles Shaw

In my right hon. and learned Friend's review, and in his consideration of the Law Commission's report on offences against public order, he is naturally taking account of the disorder and violence which has occurred during the miners' dispute.
