HC Deb 14 December 1984 vol 69 cc658-9W
Mr. Allan Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what proportion of the fall in total sulphur dioxide emissions in the United Kingdom since (a) 1970 and (b) 1980, has been due to changes in emissions from Central Electricity Generating Board power stations.

Mr. Waldegrave

Reductions in emissions from CEGB power stations from 1970 to date account for 11 per cent. of the total fall in emissions in that period

For reductions since 1980, I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to the right hon. Member for the Western Isles (Mr. Stewart) on 12 December at column 503.
