HC Deb 14 December 1984 vol 69 c622W
Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, what is his estimate of the number of police officers who have undergone riot training.

Mr. Ancram

I estimate, on the basis of information provided by chief constables, that about 6,000 police officers in Scotland have undergone basic or further training in the use of protective equipment or other aspects of handling public disorder.
