asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what has been the increase in taxation revenues since 1978–79 measured in 1984 prices.

The estimated increase in taxation revenues and national insurance contributions since 1978–79 measured at 1984–85 prices is £24 billion, £11 billion of which is the estimated increase in North sea tax revenues.
