§ Mr. Squireasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has received from the National Council of Building Material Producers concerning investment by Her Majesty's Government in infrastructure projects; and if he has any plans to meet their representatives in the near future.
§ Mr. GowThe National Council of Building Material Producers has sent me copies of its two reports, by the Policy Studies Institute on "Rebuilding the Infrastructure—The Needs of English Cities and Towns"; and by Professor Paul Ormerod, of the Henley centre for forecasting, on "The Economic Impact of Increased Public Spending on Construction".
I met the president of the National Council of Building Material Producers on 11 December to discuss these reports. I agreed to consider both carefully, before arranging a further meeting.
