asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what steps he proposes to take further to promote trade between Britain and the People's Republic of China.

[pursuant to the reply, 10 December 1984, c. 345]: There are good prospects for the steady development of trade between Britain and China. The government will continue to give active support to the British companies' exporting efforts to China. During her visit to Beijing, my right hon. Friend the prime Minister, hopes to discuss trade questions with Chinese leaders.
