HC Deb 12 December 1984 vol 69 c517W
24. Mrs. Clwyd

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will allow visits by lawyers representing the three UDF activists in the British consulate in Durban to obtain instructions for their appeals to the South African Supreme Court.

47. Mr. Robert Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will now permit family and solicitor visits to the three men currently in occupation of the British consulate in Durban.

Mr. Rifkind

Our main objective must be to resolve this difficult problem. We are therefore prepared to consider a visit by the three men's lawyers if its purpose would be to contribute to the early departure of the three men from the consulate.
