asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what has been the percentage of local authority expenditure for Dundee and Scotland met by central Government funds in each year since 1980–81.

The table sets out the information in the budgets of local authorities based on the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy Publication "Rating Review".

  1. 1. for the purpose of this question, local authority expenditure is relevant expenditure for rate support grant purposes, including loan charges, total expenditure on the housing relevant account and rate fund contributions other than to the housing revenue account.
  2. 2. Government grants are specific revenue grants, needs and resources elements of rate support grants and housing support grants. In its budget, Dundee assumed no income from housing support grant in the years 1983–84 and 1984–85.
