HC Deb 11 December 1984 vol 69 cc410-1W
Mr. Deakins

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if the communiqué issued after each North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ministerial meeting refers only to agenda items which do not carry security classifications.

Mr. Stanley

No, but it is the usual practice in NATO to provide communiqués in an unclassified form about discussions which are classified themselves.

26. Mr. D. E. Thomas

65. Mrs. Clwyd

Mr. Heseltine

No.

33. Mr. Strang

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he attended the December meeting of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation defence ministers; and if he will make a statement outlining the main decisions reached.

Mr. Heseltine

I met other NATO Defence Ministers in Brussels between 3 and 5 December. We had valuable discussions on a wide range of subjects. Details are set out in the communiqués of the Eurogroup and of the defence planning committee. I have arranged for copies to be placed in the House of Commons Library.
