HL Deb 11 December 1984 vol 458 cc267-8WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, since Urban Aid is not available in Northern Ireland, they will provide a comparable source of funds for voluntary projects in the inner city area of Belfast.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Northern Ireland Office (Lord Lyell)

Although Urban Aid is not available in the same form as the Urban Programme, assistance is available for voluntary sector projects tackling Belfast's inner city problems—for example, under the Belfast Areas of Need and the Urban Development Grant schemes. The basis on which aid is offered to the voluntary sector in Belfast is being reviewed.
