Mr. Adley

asked the Prime Minister when she next intends to seek to pay an official visit to Peking.

The Prime Minister

I will pay an official visit to Peking between 18 and 20 December. I will be accompanied by my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs. The purpose of my visit will be to sign the joint declaration on Hong Kong.

Mr. Adley

asked the Prime Minister if she will make a statement on any initiative she may be considering further to promote trade between Britain and the People's Republic of China which she will be discussing while she is in Peking.

The Prime Minister

I see good prospects for increasing trade between Britain and China and I hope to discuss trade questions with Chinese leaders when I visit Peking.
