HC Deb 10 December 1984 vol 69 c381W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many employees of the National Health Service have been affected by the decision of private contractors to annul certain fringe benefits since the abolition of the fair wages resolution; and if he proposes to take action to rectify this.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

Employees of the National Health Service are subject to Whitley terms and conditions of service which have not been affected by the recession of the fair wages resolution. The conditions of service which private contractors provide for their employees are entirely their concern and not the responsibility of Ministers or health authorities.
