HC Deb 10 December 1984 vol 69 c354W
27. Mr. Canavan

asked the right hon. Member for Taunton answering on behalf of the Public Accounts Commission what is the estimated cost to the National Audit Office in the current financial year of auditing the accounts of the Forestry Commission.

Mr. du Cann

The Forestry Commission produces two accounts each year, the Appropriation Account relating to the funds voted by Parliament for the commission as a whole, and separate trading accounts for its forestry management activities which are published in its annual report. The estimated cost in the current financial year of auditing these accounts, together with value for money examinations under the National Audit Act 1983, amounts to £86,000, of which about half is reimbursed by the Forestry Commission in respect of the trading accounts.
