Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) if he will now set up an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mrs. Norah McCabe on 9 July 1981;

(2) if any police disciplinary action has been taken against any officers who took part in the Royal Ulster Constabulary Land Rover patrol in the vicinity of Linden street, Belfast, on 9 July 1981;

(3) of the Royal Ulster Constabulary officers who took part in a Land Rover patrol in the vicinity of Linden street, Belfast, on 9 July 1981, how many (a) are still serving in the Royal Ulster Constabulary and (b) have been promoted in rank since that date;

(4) how many formal complaints have been made about incidents of police use of plastic baton rounds in each year since 1979; in how many cases the complaint has been upheld; and in how many cases disciplinary action has been taken against the officers involved;

(5) how many claims for damages have been made to date for alleged injury by plastic bullets fired by (a) the Army and (b) the Royal Ulster Constabulary in Northern Ireland; what have been the results so far; in how many cases liability has been admitted; in how many cases the courts has made the findings of liability; and what is the total sum of damages paid to date.
