§ Mr. WhitneyThe most recent information on the action taken by each member state of the EC to comply with Community directive 79/7/EEC is contained in the "Interim Report on the application of directive 79/7/EEC of 19 December 1978 (COM(83)793 final)" issued by the Commission of the European Communities on 6 January, a copy of which is in the Library.
The implementation period for the directive expires on 22 December. Within a year of this date member states are required to provide the Commission with all information necessary to enable them to draw up a report on the application of the directive for submission to the council. When this final report on the application of the directive is published a copy will be placed in the Library.
