asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many cases of myasthenia gravis were diagnosed in each of the last three years; and what facilities are available for diagnosis and treatment.

Detailed statistics on the incidence of this disease are not readily available. The estimated number of hospital discharges and deaths in respect of myasthenia gravis in National Health Service hospitals in England in each of the years 1980–82 (the latest available data) was:
