§ Mr. Kilroy-Silkasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many parents were ordered to pay fines imposed on juveniles in 1982, 1983, and so far in 1984; and how many in each year were imprisoned for default;
(2) how many parents were ordered to pay compensation orders imposed on juveniles in 1982, 1983 and so far in 1984; and if any were imprisoned for default.
§ Mr. MellorThe recording of these cases may be incomplete in the information available to me which is given in the following table. To include summary motoring offences would involve a disproportionate cost. Preliminary indications are that such orders were being made much more frequently in the early months of 1984.
