Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many persons are classified as homeless in the following regions at the latest available dale; the north-east, the midlands, the south-west and the south-east.

The number of households found to be homeless by local authorities for the first half of 1984 was as follows:

North 5.4
Midlands (East and West) 10.3
South-West 9.3
South-East (including inner and outer London) 27.1
