asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many deaths have occurred in England and Wales resulting from asbestos-related diseases in the last three years; and what levels of industrial disablement benefits have been allocated to patients in hospital while receiving treatment for such diseases.

When a person is admitted to hospital for treatment of an injury or disease for which he is receiving industrial disablement benefit, that benefit is increased to the 100 per cent. rate whilst he remains in hospital.
