§ Mr. Strangasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the instructions given to the United Kingdom delegation to the first committee of the United Nations General Assembly with regard to the three resolutions calling for a comprehensive test ban treaty.
§ Mr. LuceWe remain ready to support at the United Nations resolutions which recognise that international agreement on nuclear testing constraints can only emerge from the resolution of outstanding problems of verification. We will not support resolutions which ignore this important factor. Our voting record at the first committee this year reflects the above position, including our support for further work at the Geneva conference on disarmament.
