HL Deb 05 December 1984 vol 457 cc1438-9WA
Lord Colwyn

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will reconsider their ban on cycling in Regent's Park, and arrange a meeting with the various interested groups to discuss ways of accommodating cyclists in Regent's Park and other Royal Parks.

The Earl of Avon

Cyclists are not banned in Regent's Park. They are permitted to use the Outer Circle and the Inner Circle, which are park roads from which lorries, buses and other commercial vehicles are excluded. The position of Her Majesty's Government was fully explained by departmental representatives at a meeting of various interested groups with the Greater London Council in May this year. I can see no point in a further meeting.
