HC Deb 04 December 1984 vol 69 c132W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prison cells on the most recent convenient date (a) had integral sanitation, (b) had night time access to sanitation and (c) had neither integral sanitation nor night-time access to sanitation.

Mr. Mellor

I regret that the information readily available does not distinguish between places with integral sanitation and others affording night access to sanitation. On 30 June 1984, a total of 17,311 places in prison department establishments had some means of night access to sanitation and 21,722 places had none.
