§ 58. Mr. Spearingasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement concerning policy for further and higher education in London.
§ Mr. BrookeThe Government expect that further and higher education opportunities in London will be provided as cost-effectively as possible in order that all students who have the ability to benefit can be accommodated within current limits on resources. The National Advisory Body for Higher Education (NAB) has an important role in advising on student numbers and resource allocations. Following receipt of NAB advice, my right hon. Friend will be making a considered response to the ILEA's proposals on their advanced further education provision, taking account of other provision for further and higher education in the London area and elsewhere as appropriate.
